A critical discussion of ‘Masterness

Abstract
The present work is a short discussion paper on the concept and content of ‘Masterness’ as this was established by the Scottish Higher Education Enhancement Committee which also identified the use of ‘facets’ of Mastersness via an effort to reflect upon postgraduate learning and teaching practices and the content of the postgraduate taught courses. The paper , via a critical literature review highlights the importance of the Masterness as a toolkit being used by supervisors of postgraduate students in order to plan and deliver effectively PG supervision, minimise tensions & conflicts, help towards performance improvement .
